A very well executed video with a subtle plot and beautifully simplistic cinematography.
It makes me both uncomfortable and hopeful at the same time.
New Genre Arts class, you should watch this!
The most helpful progress on my project ideas has come from discussions I’ve had with friends. Before I mention my project ideas, I ask them for their own opinions on technology and it’s role in modern society. One common positive aspect mentioned is “instant access to information otherwise unreachable” (reported by many students). Most say something about technology becoming too integrated with our lives, but I wonder if that is truly the case? From my observations, technology (specifically social media) is viewed negatively by many people. They claim we are losing touch with the “real world”.
I am hoping that my project will take a somewhat neutral stance on this predicament (technology: good or evil?). New Genre Arts has taught me that technology and the digital world have great potential, both positive and negative. We users of technology are responsible for utilizing it in efficient and beneficial ways. We are ready for a cultural revolution, and I think the digital era can take us there. With the manipulated images in my project, I hope to spark the imagination of viewers. I want them to picture a world where technology is subtly integrated with our daily routines to help our society move forward. In addition, I want viewers to ponder another potential outcome: one in which technology becomes a hindrance on cultural evolution.
We need to take responsibility for our use of digital technology. We can either use it to carry us forward or allow it to hold us back. Either way, humans are the one’s who decide what happens, not technology. We should learn to question conventional uses for the internet.
